Избеглица (Refugee)

Problem Library presented the photographic work of Maja Planinac, for her first solo-exhibition in the United States.

Born in former Yugoslavia and educated in Belgrade, Serbia, Maja is a cinematographer and photographer working in digital, 35mm and medium format film; often using multiple exposures to create surrealist images of powerful psychological symbolism.

Maja is able to “capture phenomena that exist between the raw and sophisticated, the real and surreal, and the deeply personal and public. [Her] photography examines the boundaries between incompatible worlds.”
